Up above the city

It's been a very busy Christmas Day, our first day here in beautiful Tāhuna/Queenstown. After our morning cruise and exploring the waterfront on foot, we decided to view the city from above and jumped aboard the Skyline Gondola. 

The $44 return fee is horrific, but the onset of rain clouds kept us from attempting the steep climb up the mountain. Luckily the rain held off for a wee while, so we had time to marvel at the most spectacular scenery including The Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu.

Adrenalin junkies get their thrill on the Luge - or can choose between bungee jumping, skydiving and paragliding from the top of the mountain.

Who needs to buy postcards when you can take pictures like this???
