Me vs the NZ Teacher's Council
Remember how I was hoping to start my studies in about a week in order to become a fully qualified ECE teacher? After having been tested (numeracy & literacy skills) and interviewed by 2 lecturers from Open Polytechnic last month I finally got the good news today: I am accepted!
There is, however, a problem. The New Zealand Teacher Council is not convinced my level of English is adequate enough to complete my studies. Even the recommendation by Open Polytechnic staff didn't help. They insist on me paying $400 for an English test.
You think that's ridiculous? I am OUTRAGED!!! I will definitely fight this decision with any means avaliable!
Watch this space...
P.S. Feel free to comment. But please spare me those "but that's just the way things are" or "this is what it's like everywhere" or even "this is how it's always been done".
BECAUSE THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S RIGHT!
Hi Mara,

I think I completely forgot to mention that I gained an early victory!!! Roughly a couple of weeks after this blog post the Teachers Council informed me that they had reconsidered my case and I was granted an exemption from the IELTS test *yay* SO I can officially start studying with the beginning of the next trimester which is February 2015 =D
